Bakhamri - البخمري( Yemeni's special fry bread)

One of Yemeni's must-have breakfast is Bakhamri. It is totally a typical fry bread( in malysia well known as chakoi or puri bread) and obviously with several typical ingredients but what makes it special is the present of black seed. Who else loves black seed? Cause I do!! :)

When I was in Yemen, I eat bakhamri like almost everyday! So Ive got the recipe from one of my yemeni friend and gonna share it in this blog ♡♡

Bakhamri Recipe.

3 cups of all purposed flour
3  tbs of milk powder
3 tbs of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
3 tbs of veg oil / cooking oil
5.5 gm yeast (about half packet of mauripan)
1 cup of warm water
2 tbs of habbatussauda/black seeds
Cooking oil - for deep frying

Instruction :

1.  In a warm water ,add in 1 tbs of sugar and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5 minutes

2. In a large bowl, add in dry ingredients along with 3 tbs of cooking oil. Mix well.

3. Pour in yeast mixture into the dry ingredients then knead for about 5-6 minutes using electric mixer. ( kneading by hand took longer than this)
5. Let it rise double in size for about 1 hour

6. When doubled in size, roll out the dough and cut into smal pieces

Roll out about 1 inch thick

Randomnly cut the dough. This is how bakhamri should look like.
 7. Fry on medium heat until it turns golden brown
You can tell it went well when you have got the bubble inside your bakhamri.

8. Is ready to rock and roll !
